Moonlight, nel suo timeslot, vince ancora con 7.56mln (4.9 / 9 e 1.8 / 6  nel demo 18-49 anni) di spettatori (dati ancora provvisori), in lieve calo rispetto al venerdì precedente.

Forte calo degli ascolti per Ghost Whisperer che non va oltre gli 8.32mln, mentre Numb3ers, il migliore show della serata quanto a statistiche, registra 9.73mln.

Le fan sono passate alla fase due: contattare i network via cavo.

Da un messaggio apparso sulla board ufficiale di Moonlight, sembrerebbe che, sia SciFi  sia USA Network, siano  interessate alla serie.

Il testo riporta infatti:

Our publicist has touched base with the President of both the SciFi channel and USA Network and they wanted to discuss it further. SciFi is EXTREMELY interested!
What we need fans to do is to go over to either Kandygirl’s or Help Save Moonlight Mypace sites and get the list of Moonlight’s past and present advertisers from them.
Call the toll free numbers and tell them that you have purchased their products BECAUSE they were the ones keeping our show paid for!
Tell them you are getting together a pledge list of fans who will pledgeto buy their products if they will contact the SciFi channel and commit to paid advertising for the show if it gets picked up!
Call or email the SciFi channel and tell them you want to see them pick up Moonlight!

Dear Friends, Family and wonderful, wonderful Fans of MOONLIGHT.

Well, where to start….?
The decision to cancel MOONLIGHT… my MOONLIGHT… our MOONLIGHT, is
as much of a shock and gut wrenching surprise to me as it is to all of
you.

 

Really, I don’t even know where to begin.

 

I sit here at my computer, still slack jawed even 24 hours after
receiving the news that my services are no longer required on the set
of this show. A show we have all come to know and love deeply, and it
hurts more than I can possibly tell you.

 

Since i got THE CALL I have not read anything online or otherwise, I
have not been following blogs or forums, I have not been reading the
trades or opinion polls and I have not been calling around to get
information.
"Why are you not fighting for your show?!" I hear you all scream!!
The truth is my friends, I never STOPPED fighting for it.
From the very beginning when I was told time and again that i wasn’t
the man for the job, having to prove myself to everyone with tests and
screen tests, to a complete re-casting of the show, through 5
different show runners at the helm with 5 different artistic visions,
to a Writer’s strike that took 5 episodes away from us…… oh how
the list goes on.
But through all of that, i am proud to say that not once did I bow
down and allow someone else to come in and do with MOONLIGHT as they
please. And along the way, if I needed a break and wanted to do that,
I don’t think I could have anyway because, well, I suppose it’s just
not in my nature!
This is all still so fresh for me and I am going to need a little time
to process this whole thing before i can digest what has actually
happened, let alone move on.

 

Honestly. I really feel lost for words.

 

I will say however, that never, never in my life have I experienced
first hand a level of support from a group of people like that of you
all who are reading this now, and who ‘loved this show to life’
alongside me. It has been overwhelming to say the least.

 

I am grateful to you all.
I am extremely proud to be associated with this piece of television.
And I am so, so sorry to my very core, to lose MOONLIGHT.

Permettetemi un piccolissimo commento personale.

Quest’uomo ha combattuto come un leone per questo show, ha perso ore di sonno, ha lavorato davvero sodo. Un ragazzo serio che crede profondamente in quello che fa. Lottare strenuamente e poi perdere per motivi che vanno oltre la sua e la nostra comprensione, credo sia quanto di più frustrante possa accadere nella vita di una persona.

Ritengo sia stata un’ esperienza …intensa (nel bene e nel male) per chiunque si sia avvicinato a questa serie, cast, crew e fans.

Moonlight rimarrà un cult.

Nessuno dei vertici della CBS potrà privarlo di quest’onore.

Anch’egli colto di sorpresa  dalla cancellazione di Moonlight, fa il punto della situazione sulle ultime voci di corridoio che vorrebbero la produzione della serie in trattativa con altri network, in particolare con la CW. Roush scrive, alla fine dell’articolo:

No other broadcast network is likely to step in to save it—not even the CW, which at least has a corporate connection. (The CW being already satiated with genre programming like Smallville, Supernatural and the just-renewed Reaper.) Cable? Probably too expensive, even for Sci Fi—and fans are still smarting over that channel’s handling of The Dresden Files. But I’d be foolish to ever say never. Look what happened to Jericho, at least for a while.

 Nessun altro network nazionale farà probabilmente un passo avanti per savarlo — neanche la CW, che almeno ha un collegamento societario. (La CW è già sazia del genere,  mettendo in palinsesto programmi come Smallville, Supernatural e l’appena rinnovato Reaper). Via cavo? Probabilmente è troppo costoso, anche per Sci Fi — e i fan stanno ancora soffrendo per la gestione da parte del canale di The Dresden Files. Ma sarei pazzo a dire anche mai. Guardate cosa è successo a Jericho, almeno per un po’.

I gotta say people, if everyone put as much time into helping the world as much as saving Moonlight, the world would be a better place.

There has been 2 horrific natural disasters in the past 10 days and we should be focussing on those poor people.

I’m not posting anything about a TV show being cancelled while this tragedy is unfolding.

Il messaggio sembrerebbe attendibile. In questi momenti di caos, tuttavia, è impossibile averne la certezza matematica.

the fans i’ve met through the show are the best thing to have come from creating the show in the first place. they are truly appreciated and the support they have given the show and everyone involved with the show has been amazing.

if the CW picks moonlight up, they will be doing so because they appreciate the rabid fan base it already has. this could be a very good thing because if that’s the case then maybe… just maybe they will bring back the writers who love and know the show best, and allow them to write the show that the fans fell in love with in the first place… and if that happens, then it will be the best of all possible outcomes…

i fans che ho incontrato grazie allo show sono, in primo luogo, la cosa migliore che si potesse ottenere dalla creazione di questo show. Sono sinceramente apprezzati e l’appoggio che stanno dando allo show e a tutti quelli che sono coinvolti è stato fantastico.

se la CW dovesse prendere Moonlight, lo farà perché apprezza l’accanita fan base che ha già. Questa potrebbe essere una cosa molto buona perché se quello fosse il caso allora forse… forse riprenderanno anche gli scrittori che amano e conoscono meglio lo show e permetteranno loro di scrivere lo show di cui i fan si sono innamorati all’inizio … e se dovesse succedere, allora sarebbe la migliore di tutti i possibili esiti…

Con una mossa DAVVERO inspiegabile, la CBS ha deciso di CANCELLARE Moonlight.

Per una questione di denaro e di calcoli PALESEMENTE sbagliati (i loro esperti di marketing non hanno neanche lontanamente valutato le potenzialità del merchandising collegato a Moonlight), si chiudono così le avventure di Mick&Beth.

A nulla sono servite le campagne per la donazione di sangue, che molto risalto ha avuto dai media americani, e l’invio di spicchi d’aglio. Una serie in grado di instaurare un così forte feeling con la sua fan base, che ha mostrato immensi miglioramenti sia in campo tecnico (regia e fotografia) sia narrativo, che ha vinto nel suo timeslot, nonostante la crisi degli ascolti del venerdì nelle televisioni americane, è stata scaricata ingloriosamente.

Rinnovate praticamente tutte le sit-com e i vari CSI, la CBS preferisce puntare su nuovi drama che affidarsi ai porti sicuri.

I fan internazionali si stanno dando da fare come possono per mostrare il loro sostegno alla serie.

Possiamo fare qualcosa anche noi, bastano pochi minuti.

In questi ultimi minuti, la situazione di Moonlight sembra essersi decisamente aggravata.

Dopo l’articolo apparso su Variety in cui si afferma che, gli ascolti, non sarebbero serviti a convincere la rete per il rinnovo, considerati i numerosi pilot che ha a disposizione, il network starebbe valutando l’ipotesi di inserire The Unit, prodotto interamente targato CBS, nel timeslot di Moonlight. Anche Ausiello (TV Guide) e Kristin  (E!Online) si accodano, concordando sugli ultimi rumors.

Iniziano i primi rumors in merito alle decisioni definitive che la CBS prenderà il 14 maggio p.v. e Kristin di E!Online, fan di questa serie, dà Moonlight come probabilmente rinnovata. L’imprevedibilità, peculiarità del network, rende difficilissimo prevederne con certezza il destino.

Inoltre, nel palinsesto estivo della rete, la serie sarà regolarmente presente con le repliche, a cominciare da 1×06 - B.C., fino al 4 luglio.
